Where do I Want to Get to?

Initially, I was more focused on being accepted into the Online Learning and Teaching Program than on what I would get from it. I was clear I wanted to broaden my understanding and proficiency in the field of online learning and teaching and expand the certificate into a Masters in Education. I am rapidly coming to understand that the scope of possibilities is so much greater than I initially comprehended. Although I love teaching, and that is a future possibility, I am leaning more towards educational design and management, perhaps in a corporate, government or academic environment.
I believe there is a need for a significant shift in how many educators teach, both face-to-face and online. I find the possibilities of technology-enhanced-learning incredibly exciting. I fear that the negative effects of poor teaching skills as well as those attributed to lack of time and money will be magnified as more and more programs increasingly incorporate technology. My intention is to have the skills and expertise to create possibilities globally to support higher levels of excitement, engagement, integration and growth for students of all ages. As I finish up the OLTD program, I want to have a clear direction as well as having competed much of the work for my Masters project.
