Where Have I Been?
My life has been one of metamorphosis and growth. There have been many seemingly disparate components coming together providing a foundation to enable me to reach new heights. I am incredibly blessed with an ability to jump and snatch opportunities, even out of adversity and challenge. I am building to a crescendo that is becoming more and more vibrant.
As with so much of my life, I have arrived at the OLTD program through the less travelled route. I am the “guy in the trenches,” the technician, specialist and doer. I’ve been teaching on and off since the 1980s and have been teaching online (in a synchronous environment) for almost 10 years. I have taught from locations on five different continents, in all kinds of conditions with all sorts of challenges. As a teacher, I have the experience, the on-the-job and practical training, and solid people skills in Mediation, Negotiation and Executive Coaching.
I want to acquire the well-rounded skills that the Online Learning and Teaching Certificate will give me. As I move into the Masters in Education, I will acquire the academic credentials to round out my portfolio. As a result of being in the first course of the program, I have already noticed positive differences in how I develop programs, as well as with my face-to-face and online teaching. It’s exciting to integrate my schooling and my work with students and other educators all over the world.
